Recently, we made a switch in the direction of a new music provider. Melodie is a music licensing platform that provides high-quality, royalty-free music for content creators, businesses, and media productions. Their library includes tracks from professional composers and is designed for use in videos, podcasts, ads, social media, and other creative projects.
Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions in this regard.
Q: Why can't I search by genres or names of the tracks?
A: As we have switched to the new music provider only recently, we are yet to add the search feature for the updated music library. It will be implemented soon, so stay tuned! Along with this feature, categorization by genres will be added.
Q: Previously, I was able to select a portion of the track and have the chosen track start at a custom timestamp. What happened to this feature?
A: Seeing as this is a highly requested feature that was available with the Epidemic Sound music tracks, we are working to bring it back. However, this may take some time, as it requires in-depth development. Once this option is enabled again, we will let you know! As for now, if you have a music track on your device and you want to trim it before uploading to Ripl, please consider using a third-party audio trimming service (for example this one) to achieve the desired result and then upload the trimmed track to the Ripl app.
Q: Should I pay for a separate Melodie subscription?
A: At the time being, all Melodie tracks provided in the Ripl app can be used with any subscription tier and with no limitations. While Melodie does offer a paid subscription service with extended music selection, at the moment it will not show in Ripl. However, provided you've got a paid subscription to Melodie and found a perfect track that is not presented in Ripl, you can download the track from Melodie and then upload it to Ripl as a regular mp3 audio file.
Q: My post with a Melodie-powered music track has been flagged for copyright on social media - what gives?
A: Melodie provides royalty-free tracks that can be freely used in digital advertising as well as in other spheres. If your post has been flagged for copyright infringement on the basis of using a music track supplied by Melodie, please respond to the claim and highlight that the track has been provided by Melodie and should not be copyrighted. This should suffice to remedy the block. If it doesn't, please reach out to us at [email protected] and we will further investigate that.
Q: I have an active Epidemic Sound subscription - can I still use it in Ripl? What is Ripl's stance towards Epidemic Sound now?
A: As we have shifted to Melodie, the Epidemic Sound music provider is no longer presented in the Ripl app. Your previous posts that contain the Epidemic Sound pieces will all remain intact and will retain the music tracks, and they can be freely reshared to your social media without receiving copyright strikes (as Epidemic Sound remains a royalty-free music provider short of copyright issues). However, the Epidemic Sound subscription can no longer be applied to Ripl as we are not featuring any Epidemic Sound tracks or branding now. The subscription to Epidemic Sound can be retained and used on their website - for example, if you find a track on Epidemic Sound that would be ideal for your Ripl post, you can download it as an mp3 file from there and then upload it to Ripl as a custom music track.
